MCU 001

 

Course Title: MCU ENGLISH PROGRAM 001

 

Course Number: 001

 

Credits: Non-credit

 

Course Duration: 45 hours (3 hours/class; once/week)

 

Course Start Date: Commencement of university semester.

 

Placement Test: No test is given in placement of any MCU English Program courses. All

students must start at MCU 001 level.

 

Minimum Requirements : Student are required to complete MCU 001 with a passing grade of 50% before taking MCU 002.

 

Course Description:

The course focuses on grammar, speaking and writing. Student are encouraged to speak with

fluency and accuracy as well as writing skill to describe or express effectively for communication in Buddhist topics and contemporary global issues. The course will cover communication among classmates in various topics with the correct structure; and the course will also cover communication with writing by provided practical lessons which student will learn and practice weekly. Before taking mid-term and final examination, students will be evaluated their skills by personal presentation and their paper-works for to be the background of MCU 002. Textbooks/eBooks: Textbooks are required and students must purchase at the commencement of study.

 

Academic Objectives:

Students will learn grammar from basic to intermediate level.

Students will learn the process of writing in various topics, including Buddhism topics.

Students will have confidence in speaking and oral presentation.

 

Ethical Objectives:

Students will be aware and excel with great vision universally in today’s rapid changes and acquire ability in solving problems using English.

-        Students will constantly be curious in mindfully speaking and listening in order to improve themselves to be leadership with great knowledge and spirituality which will help them to be helpful to others and other beings.

-        Students will possess morality, aspire themselves with profound virtue and integrity and sacrifice for the hospitality of others’ peace and happiness.
